Royal Elite Series by Rina Kent

BOOK 0 - CRUEL KING

Our Ratings - ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Our Review -

This is the story of Levi King and Astrid Clifford. Astrid is a girl who often goes unnoticed at school, but everything changes the summer before her senior year when she accidentally collides with Levi. Astrid's father and Levi's uncle have cautioned them to avoid each other due to a longstanding family feud, stemming from an undisclosed family conflict.

Despite the warnings to stay apart, they find themselves irresistibly drawn to each other. After some ups and downs, they form an unlikely relationship that eventually blossoms into love. Along the way, family secrets come to light, and they face various family dramas and intimate moments, ultimately leading to a happy ending.

The story's supporting characters provide depth, and each of them has their own book, including Aiden, Ronan, Cole, Xander, and even Nicole, who is not as wicked as she may seem in her own book.

Our Ratings (Complete Trilogy) - ⭐⭐

Our Review -

This is the story of Aiden King and Elsa Steel. At first, I was captivated by the series, especially book one, but as I delved deeper into the second and third installments, I couldn't help but feel that the writing took a nosedive. I started losing interest around the halfway mark. Having three books essentially repeating the same storyline felt excessive. Combining it into one book would have been a much better idea.

One thing that stood out was the character development of Aiden, who, despite being a psycho, demonstrated a bit more rationality in the later books. Elsa, on the other hand, left me frustrated with her hypocrisy, particularly in a certain scenes. Looking back, it's clear that both characters had their toxic moments, which made for a captivating yet maddening reading experience.

On the bright side, I recognized that these were some of Rina Kent's earlier works, and I have since observed her growth as an author in her later series. However the hype around Aiden and Elsa didn't quite match up to my expectations, especially when compared to Rina Kent's other works. Despite its flaws, I'm still invested in Rina Kent's writing journey.

BOOK 4 - BLACK KNIGHT

Our Review -

This is the story of Xander Knight and Kimberly Reed. I've always been curious about why Xander bullies Kimberly. The reason turned out to be shocking yet surprisingly understandable. Despite it being a misunderstanding, things eventually took a positive turn.

In the previous books, Kim had really annoyed me, so I didn't have high expectations for this one. However, it turned out to be exceptionally good. I have to admit, I absolutely loved this book. It moved me to tears, and Chapter 19 was particularly heart-wrenching; I couldn't stop crying. I was feeling so miserable, and then, out of nowhere, came that plot twist.

I'm thrilled that both of them were determined to overcome their struggles, especially in the concluding chapters, where the words, "I'll heal, like I'm sure you will. I won't fix you, and you won't fix me," made me fall in love with the author. It's the most logical decision ever! People often mistakenly believe that relationships should be about healing each other, but I wholeheartedly agree with the message of healing individually before entering into a relationship, rather than burdening your partner with that responsibility.

Kim is a survivor, although I felt that Xander should have put in more effort. I thought he was forgiven too easily, but that's just my opinion. In any case, I still adore the book.
